“Introduction to Jerusalem and Palestine” Curriculum Development Project

Purpose:

The Consultants for Islamic School Excellence (“CISE”) is developing a comprehensive academic curriculum to be presented to Muslim students in grade levels 6 - 12 about the importance of Jerusalem and Palestine from an Islamic perspective and standpoint.  This modular curriculum will be offered at a nominal fee.

Vision:

Jerusalem holds a sacred status for Muslims.  In order to ensure that the future generations of Muslims understand and recognize this status, it is important for them to learn about the Holy Land from an Islamic perspective in a structured and comprehensive manner.  

Curriculum Development Team:

The team will include U.S. based educators, academic experts, and historians with diverse backgrounds and professional degrees in the subject-matter. Among current experts overseeing this project are:

  • Dr. Susan Douglas

  • Dr. Abdallah Idris Ali

  • Dr. Fawzia Tung

Curriculum Subjects:

  1. The religious significance and status of Masjid Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem in Islam

  2. The people, culture and identity of the inhabitants of Jerusalem and Palestine from history to present times

  3. The current situation and ongoing threat to Masjid Al-Aqsa, Jerusalem and Palestine

  4. The role of future generations to protect Masjid Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem

Curriculum Standards:

  1. Modular curriculum that can be easily integrated into the existing academic instruction 

  2. Pedagogical standards will be used by curriculum developers 

  3. The intended student audience will be middle and high school students (Grades 6 – 12)

  4. Curriculum will be reviewed by an independent legal team to ensure its content is unbiased, objective and historically credible

Initial Curriculum Development Cost:

  1. Purchasing the rights to use book content and all relevant artworks.

  2. Compensation for services of the Curriculum Development Team

  3. Attorney Cost for Objectivity Assessment
